The organization represents Canada's Ghanaian Community before the people and government of Canada in spirit of partnership for the advancement of its member-unique needs. GUC a registered, non-partisan and non-profit organization established in August 2020 and inaugurated on Victoria Day, May 24, 2021.

With presence across Canada and governed by specific bylaws agreed to by its members, GUC represents the interest of Ghanaians and Canadians of Ghanaian heritage at the federal level on policy-oriented issues that impact them in areas such as Immigration, Settlement, and Integration into the Canadian socio-economic and political landscape.

To achieve this objective, GUC will collaborate with and seeks to bring together, all existing provincial and municipal associations, cultural groups, professional bodies etc from coast-to-coast to advance a common interest and maintain a single voice at the federal level for Ghanaians and Canadians of Ghanaian Heritage living in Canada. Individual member groups within GUC are known as chapters. The chapters work at the local/civic level, have delegated representation in GUC leadership (general council), are all under the umbrella of GUC, however they are separate legal entities.

In its relationship with members/chapters, GUC will exist and operate independently and will not required any member association or group to report to it. Rather GUC will operate at arms length in consensus gathering and representing specific interest put forth by members at the federal level. GUC will have no interest (implicit or explicit) in leadership selection, operations and management of member associations. Existing Ghanaian association will be under no duress (implicit or explicit) to join should an association not see the need to be part of GUC and will do so via written communication.

GUC's operations, governance, funding processes is not in conflict with any member chapter across Canada.

As a non-partisan organization, GUC will collaborates with several partner organizations both  internal and external to foster cooperation between other communities, establishments, private and public organizations etc to champion our goals, albeit we will focus heavily on matters that advances the interest of Ghanaians and Canadians of Ghanaian heritage living in Canada.
