About GUC || OUR CORE OBJECTIVES

OUR CORE OBJECTIVES

GUC’s core objectives include:

  • Champion a Unified Voice:
We strive to establish and maintain a consistent, united voice on federal policies affecting our community in three core areas: immigration, settlement, and integration. By building consensus among our members and chapters, we present a collective perspective to the Government of Canada—amplifying our impact and ensuring our priorities are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

  • Empower Through Capacity Building:
Support initiatives that strengthen community capacity, promote integration, and advance shared goals within the Ghanaian-Canadian community.

  • Support Settlement Services:
Assist member organizations and individuals in creating, managing and/or  navigate culturally relevant settlement services that meet federal standards. Our goal is to help Ghanaian newcomers successfully navigate their settlement journey in Canada, regardless of their immigration class, by providing tailored support and resources.

  • Enhance Representation Through Data:
We collect, aggregate, and analyze demographic data to better understand the evolving needs of our community. This evidence-based approach strengthens our representation and advocacy efforts, ensuring that policymakers hear and address the specific concerns of Ghanaians and Canadians of Ghanaian heritage from coast-to-coast.

  • Celebrate Dual Identity:
Promote and preserve our shared Ghanaian-Canadian identity through cultural programs, storytelling, and community engagement—ensuring the rich heritage of our community is passed on to future generations born in Canada.

  • Foster Collaboration Across Provinces:
Actively encourage inter-provincial collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Ghanaian associations, cultural groups, and professionals across Canada. By fostering these connections, we strengthen our community’s ability to integrate successfully into the broader Canadian society while preserving our unique cultural heritage. This collaborative approach promotes unity, resource sharing, and collective growth, ensuring that Ghanaians from coast to coast thrive both socially and economically within Canada’s diverse fabric.

·         Influence Policy Through Unity:
We work to create a single, consistent voice representing the Ghanaian-Canadian community on federal government policies. By building consensus among our chapters and members, we present a strong, unified perspective to Canadian policymakers—ensuring our concerns and priorities are clearly understood and addressed at the highest levels.

  • Education

Educate our community about wide range of opportunities and hidden challenges to support a successful transition and thriving in Canada’s ever-evolving landscape. By providing timely information, resources, and guidance, we empower Ghanaians in Canada to navigate complex systems like justice, finance, health, education, and other key areas. Our goal is to support successful transitions, foster resilience, and enable every member of our community to thrive and contribute meaningfully to Canadian society.
